Daniel Jackson, a New York City based artist and designer, is a founder of international design collective Surface to Air, and the Creative Director of BBlessing, a New York based menswear boutique and clothing label.
Daniel moved to New York in 1993 to attend art school at New York University. During this period he founded Surface to Air with a group of college peers as a desire to create an alternative to the dominant art and design community.
The loosely knit collective gained momentum as a new, fresh, breaking-the-rules type of organization, and Daniel was responsible for much of the group’s three dimensional design concepting and work. Moving back and forth between Paris and New York, he was able to simultaneously design and launch a gallery/boutique in Paris and complete a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in 2003.
Surface to Air has since become an extremely successful art and design company, with offices and stores in New York City, Paris and Sao Paolo, and produces an iconic ready-to-wear clothing collection for men and women. Daniel is the designer of the jewelry collection for Surface to Air, which consists of such iconic pieces as three-finger brass knuckle rings, dagger pendants, and silver cast skulls and keys. He has launched exhibitions in New York, London, Berlin, Tokyo, Paris, and Dubai.
In 2006 he and other partners established BBlessing, the menswear boutique and clothing label based in New York's Lower East Side. As Creative Director, Daniel is responsible for all aspects of interior design, the curation of the quarterly art exhibitions, and the design of the ready to wear collections and accessories. BBlessing has since established itself as one of the premier destination boutiques in New York and around the world.
