Bro Hymn

To all my friends, present past and beyond
Especially those who weren't with us too long
Life is the most precious thing you can lose
While you were here the fun was never ending
Laugh a minute was only beginning
Jason Matthew Thirsk this one's for you

Ever get the feeling you can't go on
Just remember whose side it is that you're on
You've got friends with you till the end
If you're ever in a tough situation
We'll be there with no hesitation
Brotherhood's our rule we cannot bend

When you're feeling too close to the bottom
You know who it is you can count on
Someone will pick you up again
We can conquer anything together
All of us are bonded forever
If you die I die that's the way it is

To all my friends, present past and beyond
To all those who weren't with us too long
Life is the most precious thing you can lose
While you were here the fun was never ending
Laugh a minute was only the beginning
Jason, my brother, this one's for you.

After 20 years, Jim Lindberg is leaving Pennywise.

Wow I hung out with Shayboarder while in Breck where she test drove two of our decks, and with JB from South of the North the Saturday before Easter for his super fun Easter Shoe Hunt.  I woke up early Saturday to a rainy morning and headed to his house to help him twitter his giveaways, well, away.

It was pretty funny, people were showing up before we even got to put the eggs down with the shoe vouchers, since JB was giving hints on where we'd be.  A station wagon followed us in to the first spot but didn't get out.  A Mercedes popped in before we were even able to get out at the skate park to drop the Convoy Skateboard deck and Vans shoes.  The DC Shoes and Nike SB vouchers were the hot eggs for the day.

Me trying to get a pic of the poor guy that didn't have 50 cents for the free pair of Vans in the newspaper box.

JB was in the process of walking across the street to Starbucks to use the bathroom as I watched this red newspaper box to make sure I got a picture of whoever won it.

I see this kid run up (as seen above in the hoodie) looking for the newspaper box and tries to pull the handle. I see this girl RUN across the street and try to get her money into the box but it's jamming up. I'm calling JB up to come back.

"Dude! We got a situation here, some guy is here for the shoes and I don't know of this girl is getting the paper or not!  OH Sh*t... !  Awww , man it's stuck!  Oh Sh*t, what's gonna happen?!"

The egg was laying underneath one edition of the paper so if she wasn't there for it, she would have grabbed it.  Alas, she was there for the shoes; she said she tried the box across the street and found a 5 lb. ham in it.

It was so fun running around DC and you may read more about it here.

Speaking of blogs, Jeremy and Forrester updated the Rider Blogs.  Click on the photos below to get to them.

Holla!  by MIke Forrester

While we were in Breck, Shannon from Shayboarder met up with us to hang out with us for the weekend.  She tested two of our decks out.

The 777 153, and the Memento Mori 158.  She blogged about hanging out with us on Day 1 and Day 2. I rarely spray people but the conditions the weekend we were there was primo spraying conditions.  It was a spray-off as I tried to get Connor, and Jerm. Jerm got me once pretty good in the face while he was behind me, and I subsequently put a monster wave over these two girls sitting in the middle of the trail.  From how Jeremy explained it, it was like an eclipse over the girls and all I heard was an "OH MY G-------!" before they got enveloped as I rode away trying to pretend I didn't do it on purpose.  Shay got me good though on the last run of the last day we rode. I got slush UP my nose as I bent over to unbuckle out of my bindings.  I did spray her a bunch but half the time it was on accident; she just happened to ride into them!

Shay hit up the quarterpipe and a yelp later this happened. Haha.

But it was pretty fun despite getting stuck coming in during one of Denver's biggest snowstorms of the year.  Let me tell you, I'm not impressed with Denver's Dept of Transportation AT ALL.

But I had fun.  I got some more stories but I gotta spread them out so come back.   And see the flyer below?  IF you live in DC, our Preseason BASH is a MUST NOT MISS.  Bar specials and finger snowboard rail jam.  Bring your fingerboards, your A game, and compete against the best in the east coast.  See ya there.

Matt Wyffels Rail Jam and After Party: Benefit for Riley Poor

Matt Wyffels Rail Jam and After Party: Benefit for Riley Poor
Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Matt was a competitive snowboarder who was paralyzed and has been the recipient of this benefit for the past 7 years. This event has helped Matt overcome many of the challenges of his paralysis by funding his physical therapy that has taught him to walk again, despite the doctors’ prognosis that he never would. He has even gotten back on a snowboard. Matt has decided to donate the majority of funds raised from this year’s event to Riley Poor, a widely respected ski movie cinematographer who is currently in recovery from a spinal cord injury. The proceeds raised by this fundraiser will help him get back on his feet again—literally—just as it has done for Matt.
