Still A Kid

Let me tell you a story of the day that changed my life forever. My older brother brought a Thrasher magazine and left it on a couch for a while. I happened to walk by the colorful magazine a bunch of times and with curiosity, I finally picked it up and flipped pages. I immediately became hooked with these hardcore dudes going airborne on simple wood boards with four wheels. One thing that fascinated me the most were handplants on halfpipes. I love its art and fitness. I never thought I would pull it off on a skateboard. I was only nine years old.

Now the past summer, nothing inspired me more than two long time friends of mine pushing themselves skating on a halfpipe. I mean they are 32 years old and you rarely see anyone that age pushing themselves for just a hell of fun. I was thinking why the hell I just try and do something that I always wanted to do... Therefore, I decided to step up and put knee pads on, then pulled off a handplant after probably 20 tries. At that moment, I couldn't believe what I just did. Since I turned 32, I said to myself why didn't I do that a long time ago? You just never have to stop dreaming.
By the way, Ethan's ender part absolutely blew my mind away. For real, you won't be disappointed if
you buy Role Model Production's Think Positive.

09 Dirty South
This season was different than I normally did in the past 8 years, I was not being a shred nomad. I just wanted to go back to my roots where I grew up snowboarding and not worried about getting film shots. Totally different state of mind. Just pure snowboarding. No pressure of worrying about weather for filming exposure. Sleep in my own bed and being able to throw my gear all over the floor. Home sweet home, of course. The funny thing is that I ended up snowboarding more this season, learning more new tricks, and twisting my style more. Also, before this season I didn't like to shred at nights; however, I did shred a bunch of times during night.I didn't realize how much fun it was. Fun as hell. Just making snow splashes and creating new lines on the wall sides of the slopes in my own imaginative world with my friends, that's the core of the reason why I started snowboarding. I never felt alive doing simple things. Don't take me wrong, I did feel amazingly alive every time I stomped a new trick. This is different just like you start snowboarding not knowing that you would eventually end up shredding all over the places for years and years.
I wore a brown long sleeve flannel shirt and a tan 686 pants, and never changed the outfit the whole season at my hometown mountain, Massanutten, in Virginia except maybe 3 or 4 days of wearing a red heavy 686 jacket only when it hits 20 degrees. I know a bunch of ski school instructors thinking why I wore the same outfit every day. The hell with it, I love the flannel shirt as if it's my secret superhero suit. So comfortable and you can move around easier.

At the end of the season, at the last minute, I decided to hit Breckenridge and got a chance to shred in powder for almost two weeks straight. Nope, unfortunately the brown flannel shirt didn't keep me warm enough. Honesty, I was more than ready to shred in spring conditions before I came to Rockies. I no longer can stand sporting a heavy jacket that kind of limits my physical motions. I guess skating influences me. Oh yeah, it's time to skate!
