Hot Dawgs Day Two
Day 2
The bikers renting the room under us, started their engines at a crisp 7:00am. Needless to say, there was not much sleeping going on after, so we packed up and headed to Denny's for some Slams. What a great way to start the day! We pulled into the Bear Mountain parking lot around 9am way before anyone else.

Registration wasn't until after noon, but they let us in early to find out Ethan's name had been taken off the invited pro riders list. Was not expecting that. They told us we had to wait until just before the comp to see if we could get him in. We decided to check out the town for a bit and kill some time and ease the stress. Although making frantic calls to all of our contacts and hook ups didn't help much with taking our mind off things.

We got a ton of help from friends to convince the directors to let Ethan in and everything worked out great. The comp started at 2 pm with the first heat with the first 20 plus riders killing the course. Ethan was in heat 2. You could tell how rusty a lot of riders were from the summer.

On top of that, it was a very elaborate setup for the first major contest of the year. Ethan warmed up a bit from a summer of skating, brand new deck, new bindings, and beat-to-hell boots. He stuck some solid tricks to get him into the semi-finals round beating out a lot of big name pros.

Between heats, we shot the shit with friends and even had a movie premier in our van. Ethan did a great job in the semis and turned some heads. He also took his fair share of wrecks on the hay bails. He barely missed out on making the final cut, but it was cool because he was already dead tired from hiking all day.
We rooted on our friends in the final and stuck around for the other movie premiers when the sun went down. After a quick stop at McDonalds, we headed back to our room to get our pre-party on. Then off to the Mandarin Palace to drink off the day and celebrate.
