FROM DC TO VEGAS

Deafjam noting excellent uses of design at the airport in this Burrito Bag.

Well that's it for Vegas.  As we walked through the hallways at Mandalay Bay Convention Center, there were all sorts of propped up banners reminding us this was the last year for Vegas.  The morning drive from DC wasn't fun at all, we started talking about car plows; the traffic was stupid.  Deafjam came up with one that would resemble a contoured plow/ramp around the car so when you dipped through the middle of traffic it would just allow the cars to roll right off of our car without leaving an aftermath.

This is what I had in mind though.

The union people were hard at work when we walked in to the convention center. Usually on Mondays before the show, crates are everywhere and you couldn't even walk through the aisles.  Instead of 10 people sitting around watching two people do the work it's only five people sitting around watching two people work.  Recessions have their perks.

We setup and went to Kinko's around 11pm to try to print some stuff.  Glancy wanted a Slurpee so he parked in the alleyway while I waited.  I saw an old guy walk down the alleyway with an old school tin Winnie the Pooh lunch box.  Either he was a lunchbox collector or he was trying to sucker kids into going into the alley with him.  At the Kinko's they were printing out the big Snoop poster to drymount for the SkullCandy booth.  We saw a bum with a laptop with a webcam on it with a window open chatting with a young Asian girl. He was arguing with her, it seemed she was jealous that he left the laptop for two minutes to go to the bathroom.

"I didn't doooo anything!" went on for 20 minutes. Ahh puppy love.  The dude was at least in his late 40's, and the girl looked what, 18?  I was scared if I got closer I would get stabbed.

Almost Done....

When we checked into Mandalay, I should have noticed that some bad luck was coming. They put us on the 13th floor.  On the flight back, I sat in row 13.  As I left the convention center, I checked for my keys and they were not there.  They were in a camera bag I gave to our Creative Director C.Glancy when he left on Tuesday.  Yeah I don't want to talk about it.

One of the highlights was watching MNMNT Youth Crew Rider Ethan Deiss' part at the Flight Bar in Luxor courtesy of Riley of Role Model Productions.  We are super stoked.  Ethan is killing it.  That's all I have to say.  Deafjam also informed me that Nick Geisen will be in Prospekt's video for next season with a bigger part. Robby is fimling in Canada with a film crew up there, and Chach is making a run at the Aspen Open.  Doug is filming in Mammoth's video...

Well, if you weren't in Vegas, you missed Rider's Poll Awards / Snoop Dogg (I did too, thanks to a Luxor Buffet that put me to sleep by 10:45), Redman (again, I crashed out by 10pm)... it was a fun time.

This happened on Wednesday to a distributor we talked to.  It fell off in the cab somehow and now he will either sleep on the couch for a month or find his stuff on the street when he comes back!

You can check out all the blog and press releases for previews of our line for next season.  I could post it all up here, but what fun would that be?  Contact your local shop to carry Monument, and we'll send over a rep to show the 09.10 product line.

At least this year we didn't have to sit in a cab where the cab driver told us there was no reason to be married in Vegas; as he handed us a catalog from the Bunny Ranch and a binder of stripper cards.

Thank you to all the shops, distributors, and of course the weird city of Vegas for having us one last time!
